sich Florinus gegen den ländlichen Aberglauben und bereitet so

den Übergang zur Literatur der Aufklärung vor. Der vorliegen-

Bau und Unterhalt von Pracht- und Staatsgebäuden sowie von

Lustgärten. Einen großen Umfang nehmen die Reitkunst sowie

Jagd- und Dressurszenen, Gartenanlagen und Szenen aus der

Hofhaltung sowie 2 doppelblattgroße Ansichten des Schlosses

bois dans le texte, dans une belle reliure XIXe s. en plein

cuir rouge, dos à 4 nerfs avec titre et ornements en or,

Oeuvre rare de Gesner, le thésaurus représente

une compilation des connaissances du 16e s.

dans les domaines de la chimie, la pharmacopée

et la médecine (première édition 1552). Les illus-

trations très soignées, montrent des plantes, des

instruments pour la chimie et leurs applications.

Le zurichois Gesner est considéré comme un des

plus importants naturalistes et savants de la Suisse. Médecin et

philologue, il devient médecin de son état, il pratique, enseigne

et consacre une grande partie de son temps à lire et à écrire. Il

est anobli par l’empereur Ferdinand Ier et, en 1557, est nommé

professeur de philosophie naturelle à Zurich. Ses oeuvres les

plus connues sont sa grande bibliographie universelle et ses

publications en tant que naturaliste dans les domaines de la

botanique et de la zoologie, où il est considéré comme un

The third of the four volumes of the edition issued in 1586-1588,

of the collection of homelies on each day of the year by the Span-

ish ascetic theologian Luis of Grenada, who became a Dominican

at Grenada in 1525 and studied in Valladolid from 1529 till 1534.

From 1534 till 1545, he was in a convent near Cordua where he

met the famous Juan of Avila. He was appointed provincial of this

order for the Portuguese province in 1556. His works have had

a major inuence on Charles Borromée and François de Salles,

who wrote in 1603 to a bishop: „Ayez Grenade tout entier, et que

ce soit votre second bréviaire; il dressera votre esprit à l’amour

de la vraie dévotion et à tous les exercices spirituels qui vous

sont nécessaires“. The present Conciones de tempore were a

rst time issued by Plantin in 1577-1579 in three volumes, and

reprinted in 1581, 1583-1584 and 1586-1588. Each volume was

sold separately, which explains there are no complete copies

known of the whole edition. Sorgeloos in his catalogue wrote:

„There is only one known copy of the third volume (VOET, n.

1597 III (the edition of 1588)), in MPM (Plantin-Moretus Mu-
